One thing I love about soap making is figuring out what works best. I love trying out different measurements to see what gives the best color pay off, or the best scent. I like to see what oils give more lather vs what oils are less drying. I love finding calculations for master batching. Science was always my favorite and best subject in school. My degree and career revolves around science. I think the beauty of soap and candle making is that it is both an art and a science. While experimenting with colors, scents, and chemical makeup I am also creating something beautiful and useful. At the end of the day if something i make doesn’t turn out how I expected it to, I have still learned from the mistakes. Trial and error are how we grow as soapers, candle makers, artist, scientists, and humans. If there is one thing you get out of this let it be that mistakes happen but you can take the opportunity to learn from them and grow into a better version of yourself.
